In 1913, Anagnostis Mantakas with the help of Hatzi Mihalis Giannaris, raised the Greek Flag over the Firkas Fort in Chania. This signalled the reunification of Crete with Greece.

Dolmabahçe Palace, on the banks of the Bosphorus Strait, was the administrative center of the Ottoman Empire from 1856 to 1887 and 1909 to 1922. Built and decorated in the Ottoman Baroque style, it stretches along a section of the European coast of the Bosphorus Strait in central Istanbul.

RMB47BAE–A naval Officer's dagger, Ottoman Empire, circa 1914 A double-edged blade with decorative etchings of the Imperial German Navy. There is a welded break on the ricasso. The gold-plated bronze quillons are bent up and down respectively. Pommel is in the shape of a turban. White bone grip. Gold-plated brass scabbard. Length 47.5 cm. Possible this belonged to one of the crew of the SMS Goeben (Jawus Sultan Selim) or the SMS Breslau (Midilli), which sailed under the Turkish flag during the First World War. Rare naval weapon. Cf.
