An illustration of Robert Bunsen (March 31, 1811 - August 16, 1899), the German chemist who perfected the burner that was invented by Michael Faraday and worked on emission spectroscopy of heated elements. He discovered the elements cesium and rubidium with his spectroscope. He is considered the founder of modern gas analytical methods.
