does the job, only if you follow all instructions
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.DVD Dr is a very difficult item to source via box-retail stores in my area. Luckily, BB stores do stock it. The grinding wheel in this version is ONLY for use with DVD and CD discs. (You can buy seperate grinding wheel kits for BluRay, PS3/4 and xBox discs and swap them in and out of the DVD Dr assembly as needed. This is necessary because each of these other disc form-factors have different operational disc thicknesses. You have been forewarned about this.) The grinding wheel must be used on a clean and ALWAYS lightly mist-lubed (spray bottle & fluid included) scratched disc. The "polishing" process will leave a repaired CD or DVD with a uniform series of sligltly curved, radial stroke marks in the polycarbonate of the data side of the disc. This shallow scoring pattern is uniform, but it also looks "scary," in that it covers the entire disc. Nevertheless, previously unplayable or degraded scratched discs can be fully restored to normal service once repaired in this manner. This kit CANNOT repair LABEL-SIDE disc damage (in fact, nothing can repair label-side disc damage). After first full polishing pass, tamp dry the disc (with the provided microfiber cloth) and fully test playability. If problems persist, additional polishing cycles may be needed. If more than one full rotational pass of polishing is needed to take out scratches, it is very prudent and wise to re-apply the lube spray per full rotation. Of course, less grinding is better than over grinding, but always grind in single, full disc revolutions with mist-lube per pass. Supposedly, each grinding wheel can repair up to 60 discs, depending on the level of disc damage. (I remove and rinse the wheel with distilled water after each cleaning session and allow it to fully air dry before re-inserting it into the DVD Dr.) I've thus far repaired 15 DVDs, in single revolution pass per disc, using the original grinding wheel and fully restored normal playback to all of them. YMMV.

Great Little Unit
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had had this little unit for over 5 years now and this bad boy is still going strong! As a family, we have plenty of DVD's and video games. In the past, when games started skipping or wouldn't play, I would take them to a shop to have them resurfaced. The price wasn't cheap but it was better than replacing the disc. This unit is pretty much the same machine the shops use in a small compact package. I did not bother buying a ac adapter because it works great great with just batteries. I have repaired several discs and returned them to like new condition. Highly recommended!

Takes minor scratches off CDs
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This item is very easy to use, there were scratches on some of the CDs I had picked up at a garage sale cheap. I sprayed on the buffing liquid and inserted the disc into the unit, turned it on , let it run for 2 revolutions, buffed and cleaned the residue and the CDs played like new. No skips.

It worked, but may not last long
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was skeptical as to whether this would work or not, but I figured I would give it a shot. I had a video game that was pretty scratched up, so I used this and after repeating the process 5-6 times, the game finally worked. However, the wheel that buffs the disk is now lopsided and kinda flops around. The manual says the wheel has a maximum number of uses (somewhere between 15-25, I forgot off the top of my head). So you know going in that you will have to replace the wheel after awhile, but after <10 uses, mine is already on the fritz. So, in the end it worked, but the buffing wheel is not as durable as they say. So you need to weight the cost of this versus the cost of replacing whatever disk. However, if you have an expensive DVD based game (something rare), then this is worth it. Also, it eats through batteries, but has a power jack for a DC adapter, if you have a universal adapter.

Does what it says!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a simple CD/DVD Cleaner. It runs on batteries but I purchased the A/C Adaptor for better results. I had normal ware and tear scratches on my workout DVD's and the DVD skipped during play back. After I used this product, the DVD worked fine. Can't complain about that!

Worked just as expected
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product saved us more than the cost of the device simply by repairing to Xbox 360 games. We had to run one disc through twice but it now works perfectly. Great purchase.
