Our Team

Dr. Ross was born and raised in Cheyenne, WY and graduated from Cheyenne East High School in 1976.  He was accepted to Hasting College and became a scholar-athlete in football.  From there he went onto Medical School at Creighton and finished up residency with the University of Wyoming Family Practice.  Skip started Smart Sports Medicine Center in 1992.  Since that time he has grown his 18,000 sq. ft. Sports Medicine business to include Physical Therapy and the Training Center.  He has been a member of CFD (Cheyenne Frontier Days) since 1986, starting out as an Arena Physician and expanding to the CFD Medical Director in 2018.  Dr. Ross is currently the Colorado Eagles Hockey Team Physician and PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Associate Team Physician.  He was the East High School Team Physician from 1986-2018 and the South High School Team physician from 2009-2018.  Along with his many adventures as being a Sports Medicine Doctor he was also the Team Physician for The Professional Surfing Tour.  This took him all over the word to places like Australia, Japan, France and Spain.  He has also been the Team Physician for BRO (bull riders only) and the PRS (professional rough stock).  In 1992 Skip was the Team Physician for The US Wrestling Team World Championship that traveled Cali, Columbia.  In his off-time, which isn’t often, Skip enjoys family time with his wife and 2 daughters, skiing, riding motorcycles and working at home in his yard.
