This is not the original book with the nice textured cover. Although it’s hardcover, it is a much cheaper design. I ordered two books and both came extremely damaged with curled in corners and ripped pages. There are also several misprinted pages within the book. This is an amazing book by an incredible author! Sadly this copy is not original and I strongly recommend buying elsewhere.

Rick Rubin's new book, "The Creative Act," is a must-read for any aspiring musician or artist in general. Rubin has produced some of the biggest names in music so he definitely has some insight into the subject of creativity and artistry. In this book, Rubin shares his insights on the creative process, offering rare insight into the mind of a true musical genius. Fraser does an excellent job narrating Rubin's fascinating stories. If you're a fan of Rick Rubin or just interested in learning more about the creative process, I highly recommend this audiobook.

I'm a huge David Lynch fan and this reminds me of his book Catching the Big Fish. I've always liked hearing Rick Rubin in interviews and I found that this book works best if I just randomly skip around instead of reading it in a linear fashion. It's packed with a lot of great notions and tactics. I was so happy target had a sale on this, since I rarely buy physical books- but I knew that this would be something I would return to at different points in my life- each part will resonate (or totally NOT resonate) with me depending on where I'm at. The audiobook is worth sampling too, since his voice is very comforting.

The cover of the book is not textured or colored like the original cover. It is a grey cardboard piece. The books arrived wrapped in plastic and put in a shipping bag, not a box. It arrived dented on the corners and with holes and dents. This was supposed to be a gift. Now I’ll have to return it and order it from a different source.
