Transfer news: Chelsea and Manchester United interested in Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos

Chelsea and Manchester United are set to go head-to-head for Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos, according to reports in Germany.

The Greek defender impressed for the Bundesliga club this season, racking up 26 appearances in the league.

Reports this month have suggested that both Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in luring him to London during the summer window.

But now German newspaper Bild have suggested it is actually Chelsea and Manchester United who are ready to battle it out for his signature.

The Premier League duo are in the market for new defenders this summer and both have been keeping close tabs on the 29-year-old.

Sokratis is out of contract in 2019 so Dortmund know now might be the best time to cash in on him to claim the largest transfer fee.

And it has been reported that they should expect approaches from both Chelsea and United in the coming weeks.
