Even a movie star Jet visor steams up.

Probably the most known Ford Mustang on screen was the one driven by Steve McQueen in Bullit. Not that I dislike neitheir that car nor the actor: but when I think about a classic Mustang and a movie my heart belongs to “Un homme et une femme” (A man and a woman) written and directed by french director Claude Lelouch in 1966, starring Jean Louis Trintignant and Anouk Aimée. The young Lelouch penned a masterpiece, won the Cannes Film Festival that same year and started a long and succesful career that lasts till now. Legend tells that half the movie was shot in black and white because he did not have enough money to pay  the expensive colour film.

Trintignant coudn’t ask for more: his feminine partner was the classy and charming Anouk Aimée and he played the role of a race-car driver, testing Ford GT40s and Formula cars, and winning a Montecarlo Rally on a Mustang. Not a bad life. Best part of the movie is when Trintignant, just after winning the Monte, drives at speed till Paris on the same Mustang he raced, just to meet his loved one. She not being in Paris he keeps on driving up North to Deauville, by the English Channel, where he finally meets her on the beach, in one of the most famous romantic shot in movie history.

Imagine that nowadays: he would have been flashed twice in the first 30 kms and jailed before reaching Lyon.
