‘No Place to Call Home’: Lack of security, overcharging families in homeless hotels

NEW YORK — A homeless father is speaking out at a time where New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and his administration want the public to believe they are turning a new page in the homeless crisis.

Homeless families did not mince words when asked how the city, under a new homeless services regime, is now handling their cases.

Many tell PIX11 they are emotionally beaten down while their problems fall on deaf ears.

For months PIX11 News has been investigating security at the city’s designated homeless hotels. Locations where homeless families are housed along with regular paying guests and often subjected to a glaring lack of security.

PIX11 found this out first hand, as we stayed and visited several hotels where the city places the homeless.
