Nods to Gianni Versace's 1990s collections were present in label's latest collection. At a time when the supermodels of the 1990s are more popular than ever, Versace's Spring/Summer 2024 show in Milan was closed by none other than Claudia Schiffer.
Claudia Schiffer makes her comeback to the runway
It is now a given that Donatella Versace gathers an all-star cast to walk the runway season after season. Kendall Jenner, dressed in a sixties-style white dress opened the show, followed by Gigi Hadid, Vittoria Ceretti, Iris Law, Imaan Hammam, Anok Yai, Mona Tougaard, Precious Lee and Natalia Bryant, the daughter of the late Kobe Bryant, who made her runway debut.
The honor of closing the show was saved for the German supermodel. The Queen of the 1990s and top model walked the runway in a close-fitting mint green and silver metal mesh column dress with a checkerboard pattern - a motif launched by the house for its Spring/Summer 1982 collection.
Schiffer has been a muse for the biggest labels, graced some 700 magazine covers and walked the world's most prestigious runways. After enjoying an iconic fashion career, including her 1990s supers heyday, she has not been seen on the runway since the Versace Spring/Summer 2018 show, which she closed alongside Carla Bruni, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and Helena Christensen. It would seem that only her longtime friend Donatella Versace could coax the super back onto the runway.
