“I've always kept it really simple,” says actor Marisa Tomei. “Growing up, I was interested in meditation and in grounding myself. That led to how I take care of my body in the best way.” Accordingly, her beauty routine starts from within—ensuring she has water close by, followed with a shake every morning, which blends apple juice, kale, ginger, avocado, strawberries, and blueberries. Next, she opts for Sunfood’s Chlorella Tablets if she’s eaten something salty or sugary, or simply had too much to drink—explaining that the superfood is great for hangovers. "I have very sensitive skin, and a sensitive system, so the most pure food-grade ingredients work the best for me,” she says before taking a vitamin D supplement.

The 57-year-old’s motivation to embark on her self-care journey at a young age came through her commitment to dance, as well as an admiration of her grandmother’s natural beauty even as she aged—sentiments furthered through her friendship with Lisa Bonet.

Tomei's skin-care routine is centered around products made with “organic, biodynamic ingredients.” Her face wash of choice is Cetaphil’s Gentle Skin Cleanser, a product she has used for years, followed by a cream and oil by I-N Beauty. She keeps her lips soft with Homeoplasmine—a product recommendation she picked up from a European makeup artist at Sundance Film Festival. Persephenie’s Rose Paka adds a bit more moisture to the face, while Mutha’s Body Butter nourishes her arms. “While we’re on limbs, I'm a big fan of Lord Jones,” she says as she applies the brand’s Bump & Smooth CBD Body Serum and highlights how the Stiletto Cream remarkably alleviates pain when wearing heels.

“If there’s one thing I can't leave the house without, it’s my Shiseido Eyelash Curler,” Tomei says, holding it in place for five seconds to curl her lashes—a process amplified by the Lancôme Monsieur Big Volumizing Mascara. She sweeps the applicator wand across the tips and tops of her lashes for maximum coating—a trick she learned from a junior high school friend. Next, brows: “I do deal with my brows now differently—I’ve been trying to grow them in since they were super over-plucked in the ’90s,” she says. Now, she looks to fill in sparse sections on the outer ends with a pigment by Nars and a liquid pen by Kristie Streicher. A Charlotte Tilbury blush on her cheeks and lips, then Style Edit’s Root Cover Up Stick completes her look.
