Claudia Schiffer on Her New Cashmere Line: “It’s Exactly What I Want to Wear”

For Claudia Schiffer, being a world-famous supermodel, actress, and humanitarian is all just part of one bigger title: working mom. “I don’t want to have to think about what I’m going to wear or how to wear it,” she said. She’s a jeans and sweater kind of girl, and she even launched her own knitwear collection in 2011. Fast-forward a few years and she’s getting back in the game with a super-luxe capsule collection for TSE’s Tina Lutz. “I’ve been following Tina since she was at Calvin Klein, then her label Lutz & Patmos, and I thought it would be so great to work with her now that she’s at TSE,” Schiffer explained in TSE’s Soho studio. “I used to wear all the little TSE twinsets, especially in the ’90s when I lived here on and off. I still have them today.”

Inspired by her German heritage and longtime home in England, Schiffer referenced shepherds, Fair Isle sweaters, fishermen, and Suffolk pebble beaches in her designs. A first look at the campaign debuts exclusively here. “There’s also a ’70s David Hockney feel with the intarsia landscapes and greens,” she said. Thick Aran cable knits and drapey reversible capes were all made from the same cashmere yarn—each with a dramatically different ply—and details like patch pockets, open-weave knitting, and drawstrings gave classic shapes a modern twist. “I had my own personal style in mind,” said Schiffer. “It’s exactly what I want to wear.” The fluffy, lightweight knits would kick our basics to the curb—and make the morning school drop-off considerably chicer.
