Feature Review: Game Doctor/Doctor MD 06/21/01
At last, a quick and affordable solution to restoring discs to optimal performance!

Is there a Doctor in the house?

At some point in time, we as consumers have had the unfortunate experience of the "non-working disc dilemma". Like millions of Americans, I've had my personal share of horror stories as I suffered the loss of previously working discs due to the scratches they've "inherited". I've come to embrace the benefits of optical disc, but they're not without their disadvantages. They're so prone to pick up dust and other abrasions that over the years, I've been forced to either toss discs out in the trash or trade them in for credit. In the end...it was always me that was losing out (and the companies smiling as I put more money into their lined pockets). Music CDs, game discs...I've been through it all believe it or not. The most common I've been guilty of is the unwanted fingerprints when I've removed a disc from one of my console units. Surely enough, the disc's newfound disposition of failing to operate was always enough to thwart my enjoyment from an otherwise festive day of fun.

Up until recently, the only solutions which were available were to replace the damaged discs, utilize in-store repair services or expensive mail orders and possibly the worse; making use of the various third-party repair kits that generally proved to be ineffective (not to mention messy and toxic) which only seem to frustrate the consumer (much like myself) till no end.

With the increasing use of CDs and DVDs, the need for a quick, cost-effective solution has been greatly in demand. Enter Digital Innovations, the saviour to restoring damaged game, music and other forms of optical discs to optimal performance.

Wipe away those tears!

Regardless if you've been at fault for accidentially scratching a disc or your sibling brother has mistaken your favorite game CD as a coaster, Digital Innovations has provided the first, authentic CD & DVD scratch repair device. For $35 bucks, you can invest in one of four product brands, respectively SkipDoctor, DataDoctor, GameDoctor, and DVDDoctor; all which have been designed to alleviate the abrasions, dust, fingers and unfortunate halt in performance with your treasured discs. Though four are available...one is all you need.

The process is relatively simple: insert the disc onto the jaw spindle, spray the disc with the enclosed solution (which is quite safe by the way - it's distilled water), turn the handle until the disc makes one revolution. Finally, remove the disc, throughly dry and buff the disc and voila, restored to working condition.

They love it, so should you?

Naturally, I couldn't act upon the opinions of other industry colleagues until I took the opportunity to check it out for myself. Rest assured, GameDoctor really does work and restore discs back to optimal performance. Without making any of my current titles the sacrifice to experience the collective praise Digital Innovations has gained over the years, I experimented with an old PlayStation demo disc (which did in fact happen to cease functioning awhile ago).

Going through the steps as instructed (after a few revolutions and impatient woes later), I finally succeeded in restoring the disc. Unlike Q&A centers, I wasn't stocked up on discs to become matryrs for my personal hyphothesis, but I was convinced conducting tests on the sole disc in my possession. But I digress...admittedly, I wasn't fond of having to manually turn the handle and that's where Digital Innovations latest line of motorized products comes in, known as the "Doctor MD" series. In essence, the Doctor MD is equipped with an electric motor and features the same radial resurfacing action integrated into its original product line. It's the perfect accessory for those who hate manual labor, thus making the whole process easier and quicker. GameDoctor and the other available "Doctor" products work like a charm, as they can remove practically all but heavy abrasions, warping and gouges that your disc has incurred.

Well...it's not working out for me...

Hey, it happens at times, even after you've extensively went through the troubleshooting guide. What's a consumer to do? In the event should you invest in any of the available "Doctor" products, Digital Innovations includes a lifetime warranty that should its products fail to perform to specifications, consumers can return it directly to the company for free repair or replacement. Note that this doesn't apply to resurfacing wheels or other accessories.

Certain to be one of your most practical purchases

The "Doctor" series has been quite successful with its products and the attention has been enormous with online and print circulations alike. After a personal trial of its products, I can clearly see why. Clearly Digital Innovations has succeeded in delivering a technological set of tools designed to enhance and extend consumers' enjoyment of their respective computer and entertainment products. If you've been endlessly searching for a way to cut down on replacing discs, whether it be audio, game or DVD discs...GameDoctor and Doctor MD are the keys to removing surface imperfections and restoring your discs in working order. With the "Doctor" series, the process is simple for first-time users, the solution is non-toxic (safe for adults and children), affordable, and most importantly, saves you a great deal of money and time.
