Starting a new batch of Peyote seeds. My last seedlings were Just hardened-off (3 mo. old) when the whole tray tipped over and i lost every one of them. I am hoping this batch will have a better germ rate than the last. I only got 5/30 to germinate last time.

sorry bout your loss...
Thanks Rory, I was so pissed I thought I was gonna blow a gasket. Had to go and roll some "stick" - Quick :bigjoint:and calm down. So here we go again- A few days ago, I Sprinkled about 40 new seeds and covered in plastic tarp, creating a mini- green house. Misting every so often and keeping RH @ nearly 100%. Should see some sprouts in a week or two

Just WOW Cat !!! - Unfortunately, i am not a cactus-expert like you. Still, I may really have to look into this grafting, since i really don't wanna wait 5 yrs to dose my peyote. Periskopsis- (or something like that)? I am terrified of my seedlings not "taking" the grafting and dying, etc... I'm really new to cacti propagation, and paranoid about screwing up the graft and having to start ALL over.

pereskiopsis spathulata.

expertise not needed. so simple a 6yo could do it. that link is an in depth how-to guide to grafting seedlings to periskiopsis, and will get you great results.

i have only had one graft fail...ever... and that's because i dropped it :p.

pereskiopsis grows so fast that a single cutting will get you 10-20 new cuts/stocks in about 6 weeks. it loves water, and can even be rooted in a glass of water. this means you can water it daily, upping the growth rate tremendously.

do it cat, you know you want to ;)
