Eiza Gonzalez has been brutally humbled by fans after she claimed she doesn't get acting gigs because she is "too hot" or "too pretty" for roles and compared herself to Margot Robbie.

Gonzalez, who is 34, said that she was sexualized due to being a Latina and added that none of her white friends had the same treatment, implying racism is why she was passed over for spots.

"I remember being [told for] so many projects," Gonzalez began to InStyle magazine. "'She's too pretty for the role. She's too hot for the role.'.

"Then I'd just be like, 'What is Margot Robbie? She's the hottest, most beautiful woman I've ever seen in my life!' None of my white friends who were in the industry were getting that. It was just me."

But fans have contested this by insisting she's just not that good at her job despite starring in big productions such as From Dusk till Dawn: The Series, Baby Driver and Alita: Battle Angel.

One fan said on X.com, formerly Twitter, "Naw she just stinks at acting."

Whilst a second added, "Or, maybe in Hollywood she's a dime a dozen."

A third refuted her by using Emma Stone and said, "It would be interesting if she revealed which role she didn't get because she was 'too pretty' to know who got the jobs...

"If they may be prettier than her or just better at a little thing like ACTING! Two words for her: Emma + Stone."

Whilst a fourth said, "Damn, just like act better...."

Gonzalez hits back

She further added that breaking out of that cage has been the "biggest challenge" of her career due to the sexualization of Latin women. Other examples include Sofia Vergara (Modern Family) or Salma Hayek (From Dusk till Dawn, 1996).

As she opening up on an emotional and personal topic to her, during which she feels like she isn't respected as a person but only for her looks, she found herself frustrated due to the reaction of fans who didn't hear her message about institutional biases.

So, she took to X.com to hit back at the critics and trolls in a post that attracted over 42,000 views on her personal timeline.

"Taking things out of context is sad," Gonzalez began. "I never said that I was too hot and didn't get roles.

"I was making an observation on what a Latina stereotype has been for years in our industry, and it's slowly being dismantled and words being attached to a woman like hot to define them as if that was the only characteristic that defines them.

"As in correlation to stereotypes. It's sad that words are being taken out of an interview and put in a completely different context."
