Seth Rogen recalls going on hour-long drives with his dad to a random sports bar outside Vancouver because they had what his dad considered to be the world’s best nachos. To this day, the actor loves nachos so much, he’d take them over poutine, the national food treasure of his native Canada. But these days, the Sausage Party star and cowriter is making responsible-adult-person choices when it comes to food (though he’ll always be able to smell a Cool Ranch Dorito from a mile away).

“I’m just at the age now in my mid-30s where literally if I don’t exercise and eat better, I’m just in physical pain,” Rogen says on this week’s podcast episode. “I get heartburn, I get headaches, I have inflammation, I can’t have nightshades, some foods are too acidic—it’s a nightmare.”

“My dad warned me, he was like, ‘When I turned 35 my body fell apart. It was as though someone shot me out of a cannon into a wall.'”

While Rogen isn’t into the whole juice and smoothie thing, these days you’re more likely to find him eating grilled fish, sushi, and greens than junk food—though not always without a fight.

“It always feels like a loss when you’re eating a salad,” he says. “It feels like you just couldn’t come up with something better.”

As for edibles: He’ll take a gummy over a brownie if he had to choose, but “the problem with weed food is you don’t know if you’re gonna be stoned for the next two days or the next two hours.” <— Truth. Sausage Party hits theaters August 12. Click here for this week’s podcast.
