After a recent Taco Bell commercial featured a slew of "Ronald McDonalds" touting its new breakfast menu, McDonald's wants you to know that the real Ronald McDonald hasn't gone over to the taco-loving dark side. In fact, the iconic clown got a 21st century makeover and is heading to social media platforms, like Twitter, making Ronald a new, modern McDonald.
51-year-old Ronald McDonald (although you'd never guess his age thanks to all of that makeup) now wears yellow cargo pants, a red-and-white-striped rugby shirt, and a vest, but he will still sport his vintage red shoes. There's also a "special occasions" only red blazer, which features the Golden Arches on the front pocket and comes complete with a bowtie.
Ronald will use the hashtag #RonaldMcDonald on social media, and unsurprisingly the brand already has him talking about selfies. "Selfies ...here I come! It's a big world and now, wherever I go and whatever I do...I'm ready to show how fun can make great things happen," stated Ronald McDonald in a press release.
