Jan Marcin Szancer

Jan Marcin Szancer (1902 - 1973) was active/lived in Poland.  Jan Szancer is known for Painting, graphic arts, cartoon, book illustration, set design.

Painter, graphic artist, draftsman, illustrator, theater, film and television set designer, actor, columnist, satirist, educator, professor at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, artistic director of the National Publishing Institute, first artistic director of Telewizja Polska, co-creator of children's weeklies: "Przygoda" and "Swierszczyk", an expert in theatre, music and literature. 

Outstanding illustrator of children's books. A friend and collaborator of Jan Brzechwa, whose books were full of Szancer's painterly imagination. He illustrated over 240 books, including Tuwim, Krasicki, Mickiewicz, Fredro, Prus, Sienkiewicz, Andersen, Collodi, Hoffman.
