When your body gives you the finger!(My own experience)

A lot of us at least once tried going on a diet because we felt that we are not in shape and probably the only nutrition related info we had was this statement:
“The amount of calorie that you receive should be lower than what you burn”
For example if in general your body burns 2500 calories a day, the amount of calories that you get should be 2300(burning 200 more than what you get)
Simple right?! But why this simple pearl of wisdom is going to hunt you down later on

Starvation mode

Above example seems fine till you realize there is something wrong with it. When you go through this kind of diets, you definitely will start losing weight but after a while when you are thinner (and probably hotter ;) ) your body will start burning less calories than what it used to, why? Simply because you are smaller and as physic logic goes 'weight is related to amount of energy needed for moving an object'. Also you have probably lost some muscles too (if there is lack of protein, vitamin etc… in your diet) which is not good at all because muscles burn more calories and in this case are key parameters.

Now your body is updated into a new version of itself where it will burn let’s say 2200 calories and receive 2300. Now you are basically receiving more than what you are burning …did not see that coming, right?! Now officially you are stuck in a loop where you have to decrease your intake calories if you want to stick to your plan. And finally you hit the bottom where your body gets in its most sufficient condition. It is a mechanism to survive during starvation, your body tries to remove extra elements that are costly in its logic (like some muscles which burn a big portion of intake calories)
Congratulations! You manipulated the metabolism system in your body and now you have the most sufficient body of all time which is giving you the finger!!!

Ok I got it, dieting is stupid!!!

No it is noooot! It is actually indispensable, but other than that you need to do some fixes to your lifestyle as well.

exercising

Based on my experience I can say the key to being on a good shape is relying under exercising. It does not matter how you are doing well on your diet, the best you get is a thin body (just normal thin, not a fancy thing for sure), but when you add exercising then you can really feel the difference (if you are lucky enough others would feel it too ;) ).
Exercising is fixing exactly what was wrong in starvation scenario. It increases the amount of calorie that you are burning, this way you can eat better and receive more calories than your normal amount. Now your body would start thinking: ‘alright, I guess I am fine with resources, and I don’t need to lose any muscles, and if I wanted more resources time to time then I got some fat to burn’. So your body don’t need to compromise anymore and if more resources are needed it is going to manage it by releasing fat.

Alcohol

Does alcohol have calories?? The answer is not that much.
Why does it make me fat then?! Simple, it lowers your metabolism, in result your body will burn less calories.
Should not I drink it anymore?! Of course you should (this is what I think) but don’t make it your routine (after all we all are looking for more fun, eliminating alcohol is not serving that goal :) )

Sleeping

Now days it is proven that if you want to have a body which is functional, healthy and in its best condition, you must sleep well (no skipping), if you underestimate the role of sleeping in your routine life, you definitely will face lots of physical problems

Food and drinks

There are some foods which can help you to boost your metabolism. Below you can find some:
• Coffee
• Protein
• fruits and vegetables containing fiber(like carrots)
• water(will help your body to function better and burn more calories)
• Almonds
• …

Conclusion

What you (probably) read is based on doing researches and also my own experience (it is not perfect but look at it as a simple manipulation in your lifestyle). The key here is that you should make it as your routine to see it working. You have to change your lifestyle if you want to beat aging, if you want to feel good about yourself, if you want to have confident and lots of other ifs that you dream about.
