The Met Gala dresses may have taken years, from concept to construction, to come to fruition, but that doesn't mean you can't find a cheaper version right in your kitchen trash.
Social media star, João Paulo, who goes by @johndrops on Instagram, used household supplies, like trash bags, toilet paper and aluminum foil to create visions of high fashion... sort of.
The popular Instagrammer has found a niche audience of people who love seeing him remake famous celebrity outfits. And like a kid in a giant landfill, the 2016 Met Gala (themed a very tech-y "Manus v Machina") was a total goldmine for Paulo. Prepare yourself for some serious DIY couture.
Paulo creatively spared no detail, making sure to craft every cut-out and every bleached strand of hair to pair with his home-made masterpieces.
If recreations aren't your thing, look at some of our Met Gala gown comparisons.
