Got a broken iPod and need some cash?

We've found a handy list of places where you can sell your broken iPod.

I know, I know; it's hard for some of us to believe that it's possible to break iPods. However, the poor little gadgets sometimes do give up, and if you're outside of your warranty or AppleCare, you're mostly out of luck in trying to save it. Now, there are services such as iPodResQ, but what if even they can't fix it? Or conversely, what if you're just looking for an excuse to unload the broken one so you can get a new, shiny iPod?

It's times like these when you might want to just sell of the damn thing and start over, and a blog post at WallStreetFighter has compiled a list of places where you can do just that. The list consists of:

  • iPodResQ (yes, they fix iPods, but they also buy broken ones)
  • eBay (duh)
  • BrokenPod
  • craigslist
  • iPodMods
  • NextWorth
  • iPodLounge forums

Yes, surprisingly, people on all of these sites are willing to buy broken, completely non-working iPods for some reason or another. Perhaps they want to part it out. Perhaps they want to use it as a fish tank decoration. Perhaps they have some other nefarious plans for it. Based on the poster's analyzations of each site, it looks like you can easily get somewhere between $25 and $150 for a broken iPod, depending on how broken it is and what generation iPod.

May I also recommend throwing the Ars Agora Classifieds into that list? Just be sure to be up front about what you're selling and make sure the buyer knows it's broken. We wouldn't want any nasty lawsuits, now would we?
