Conglomeratization, or the combining of companies, is palpable within the procuring of various music, television, and movie operations.
Globalization is obvious, seeing as a large majority of Viacom “products” are, at the very least, distributed to northern Europe. Some of Viacom’s brands even primarily reach outside of the United States; such as Game One, VIVA, Paramount Comedy, TMF, and Colors. Horizontal integration is evident in the ownership of many companies/subsidiaries of a similar entertainment nature, and vertical integration is definitely noticeable. (For example, Viacom can film a movie or TV show at Paramount Studios, and then distribute through one of their many outlets.) Media synergy is also very prominent. For example, Viacom could promote a Home Entertainment movie on Nickelodeon. |
