Portraiture Inspirtation: Euan Uglow

Zagi  1981-2
Oil on canvas
I love the accuracy Uglow captures in his portraits. I tend to work too quickly when drawing portraits from life and loose sight of the importance of accuracy. I need to slow down and work on the sighting and angles of the face and pose before I commit to rendering the specific details on the model's face. The planar surfaces on the body and face are so important when working from a model and drawing from life.

One thing I love about Uglow's work are the reference lines that show through the painting. His precision is impecable.
