Gruppen von Gegenständen, wobei die Zuschnitte durch zusammenwirkende Messer von einer fortlaufenden Materialbahn abgetrennt werden, wobei wenigstens ein Messer durch eine umlaufende Messerwalze drehend bewegt wird, wobei weiterhin die Zuführung der Zuschnitte zum Faltaggregat in Abhängigkeit von der Zuführung von zu verpackenden Gegenständen derart gesteuert wird, daß bei Unterbrechung der Zuführung von Gegenständen die Übergabe von Zuschnitten an das Faltaggregat so lange unterbrochen wird, bis zu verpackende Gegenstände dem Faltaggregat wieder zugeführt werden, und wobei weiterhin bei Unterbrechung der Zuführung von zu verpackenden Gegenständen zum Faltaggregat der Antrieb für die fortlaufende Drehbewegung der Messerwalze aurechterhalten und die Materialbahn angehalten wird. Ein wesentlicher Nachteil der bekannten Vorrichtung liegt in der aufwendigen mechanischen Konstruktion, die das Rückziehen der Materialbahn aus dem Bereich der Messer gewährleistet. Die Zuschnitte 11 können dadurch an der Mantelfläche der Förderwalze 35 anliegen. Diese ist im Bereich zwischen den Gurten 37 mit Saugbohrungen 39 versehen, die wiederum während eines Teilbereichs der Umdrehung mit einem ortsfesten Saugsegment 40 in Verbindung kommen und dadurch mit Saugluft beaufschlagt sind.The transfer conveyor 34 is designed in the present embodiment as a belt conveyor. Dieser Nachlaufabschnitt 44 beträgt etwa ein Viertel des Umfangs der Messerwalze 26 (Fig. 3). In dieser dort gezeigten Stellung kommt die Materialbahn 21 zum Stillstand. Diese exakte Stillstandsposition wird dadurch erreicht, daß die Zugwalzen 42, 43 durch einen Stellmotor 45 (Schrittmotor) angetrieben werden, der einen Stopp-Impuls vom Zuförderer erhält und dann die Materialbahn 21 noch um den beschriebenen Nachlaufabschnitt 44 weiterfördert. Dieses besteht im vorliegenden Falle aus einem Kurvensegment 56, welches durch einen Druckmittelzylinder 57 in die Arbeitsstellung (Fig. 3) bzw. aus dieser heraus bewegt werden kann (Fig. 2). Das Kurvensegment 56 ist so ausgebildet, daß die Tastrolle 55 bei der Drehbewegung der Messerwalze 29 frei gegen eine Stützfläche 58 des Kurvensegments 56 läuft. Bei Weiterbewegung wird der Betätigungsarm 54 zunehmend verschwenkt, bis im Bereich der Trennstelle für die Materialbahn 21 das betreffende Trennmesser 30 ausreichend weit zurückgeschwenkt ist. Es finden demnach lediglich sehr knappe, geringe Bewegungen der Trennmesser ausschließlich im Bereich der Trennstelle statt. Claims (15)

  1. Process for feeding blanks (11) of packaging material to a folding unit, especially to a folding turret (13), for the wrapping of articles or groups (10) of articles, the blanks (11) being severed from a continuous web of material (21) by cooperating knives (27, 30), at least one knife being moved in a rotating manner by a rotating knife roller, furthermore the feed of the blanks (11) to the folding unit being controlled as a function of the feed of articles to be packaged, in such a way that, when there is an interruption in the feed of articles, the transfer of blanks (11) to the folding unit is interrupted until articles to be packaged are fed to the folding unit once again, and furthermore, when the feed of articles to be packaged to the folding unit is interrupted, the drive being maintained for the continuous rotary movement of the knife roller and the web of material being stopped, characterized in that both knives (27, 30) are moved in a rotating manner by rotating knife rollers (26, 29), in that, when the feed of articles to be packaged to the folding unit is interrupted, the drive is maintained for the continuous rotary movement of both knife rollers (26, 29) and in that the knife rollers (26, 29) and/or their knives (27, 30) are moved into an ineffective position.
  2. Process according to Claim 1, characterized in that the knives (30) of the first knife roller (29) are adjusted, in particular pivoted, out of cutting engagement periodically, namely for the moment at which they are positioned opposite the knife (27) of the second knife roller (26).
  3. Process according to Claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the web of material (21) is stopped in such a way that a portion (44) of the web of material (21) located at the front in the direction of transport is conveyed beyond a severing plane formed by the severing knives (27, 30) of the knife rollers (26, 29).
  4. Process according to Claim 1 and one or more of the further claims, characterized in that the web of material (21) is driven by drawing rollers (42, 43) which precede the knife rollers (26, 29) and which can be controlled as a function of the feed of articles (10) to be packaged to the folding turret (13), upon disconnection a drive of the drawing rollers (42, 43), especially a servo-motor (45), conveying a follow-up portion (44) of the web of material (21) until the latter stops.
  5. Process according to Claim 1 and one or more of the further claims, characterized in that, when there is an interruption in the feed of articles (10) to be packaged to the folding turret (13), the drive of the drawing rollers (42, 43) for the web of material (21) is disconnected at the moment when a severing cut is made.
  6. Apparatus for feeding blanks (11) of packaging material to a folding unit, in particular a folding turret (13) for the packaging of articles or groups (10) of articles, the blanks (11) being severable from a continuous web of material (21) by radially directed knives (27, 30) and capable of being fed to the folding unit, at least one knife being assigned to a continuously rotating knife roller, with a drive for the web of material, which drive can be stopped when there is no feed of articles to be packaged by bringing drawing rollers (42, 43) to a standstill, and with a monitoring member for monitoring the feed of articles (10) to be packaged to the folding unit, characterized in that both knives (27, 30) are assigned to continuously rotating knife rollers (26, 29), and in that the knife rollers (26, 29) and/or their knives (27, 30) can be moved into a position ineffective for the cutting engagement by fixed-in-place; movable control members.
  7. Apparatus according to Claim 6, characterized in that the knives (30) of the first knife roller (29) can be adjusted, in particular pivoted, by actuating members interacting with the control members, out of cutting engagement periodically, namely for the moment at which they are positioned opposite the knife (27) of the second knife roller (26).
  8. Apparatus according to Claim 7, characterized in that the severing knife or severing knives (30) of the knife roller (29) is or are adjustable in the peripheral direction counter to spring-loading during the rotary movement, in such a way that at least one cutting edge (31) of the severing knives (30) is located in the region of the severing plane of the web of material (21) at the distance from the cutting edge (28) of the counter knife (27).
  9. Apparatus according to Claim 7 or 8, characterized in that the severing knife or severing knives (30) is or are mounted pivotably about an axis of rotation (thickened bearing portion 47) distant from the cutting edge (31) in the direction of the axis of rotation of the knife roller (29) and is or are pivotable in a direction counter to the direction of rotation of the knife roller (29) for adjustment out of cutting engagement.
  10. Apparatus according to Claim 9, characterized in that each severing knife (30) rests against an approximately radially directed knife-supporting face (side face 49) in a recess (46) of the knife roller (29) and can be lifted off from this for movement into the position out of cutting engagement, preferably counter to the load of a spring (50) arranged on a fixed bolt (51).
  11. Apparatus according to Claim 9, characterized in that each severing knife (30) is mounted rotatably, by means of a radially inner cylindrical thickened bearing portion (47), in a correspondingly shaped depression (48) in the side face (49).
  12. Apparatus according to Claim 8 and one or more of the further claims, characterized in that each severing knife (30) is moveable, especially pivotable, by means of an actuating arm (54) which comes to rest by means of a tracer roller (55) against an adjustable control member fixed in place, especially against a curved segment (56).
  13. Apparatus according to Claim 6 and one or more of the further claims, characterized in that a transfer conveyor (34) for transferring the blank (11) to a peripheral surface (19) of the folding turret (13) is located after the knife rollers (26, 29) in the conveying direction of the blank (11) or of the web of material (21), the transfer conveyor (34) preferably consisting of a conveyor roller (35) with suction bores (39) along the periphery.
  14. Apparatus according to Claim 13, characterized in that connected to the conveyor roller (35) of the transfer conveyor (34) is an endless conveyor resting snugly against the peripheral surface (19) of the folding turret (13) and consisting especially of belts (37) which are guided in peripheral grooves (38) and which run over a deflecting roller (36) located at a distance, in such a way that a conveying strand of the belts (37) rests against the peripheral surface (19).
  15. Apparatus according to Claim 6 and one or more of the further claims, characterized in that the drawing rollers (42, 43) for transporting the web of material (21) are driven by means of a servo-motor (45) which can be activated by a monitoring member assigned to a delivery conveyor (12) for the articles (stack 10) to be packaged.
