The role: Program Manager, Contract Governance, Global Infrastructure Commercial Operations - Mountain View

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus. As a Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating goals to project stakeholders. Your projects often span offices, time zones and hemispheres, and it's your job to keep all the players coordinated on the project's progress and deadlines.

You are a savvy and energetic professional with world-class contract governance and vendor management skills. You lead Contract Governance operational processes and strategic initiatives in our team, Global Infrastructure Commercial Operations (GICO), which manages all aspects of commercial operations and governance of our vendors in Tech Infrastructure (networking, telecom, data center, etc.). To drive our vendors to adhere to contractual terms and deliver optimal value to Google, your role is to maintain and enhance processes and technical solutions to achieve clear understanding of complex contractual terms and deliverables and appropriately reflect them in our spend management system, from contract signing through termination. In this role will be interacting with other GICO groups (vendor managers, analysts, etc.), as well as other internal stakeholders (Legal, Engineers, Technicians, Program Managers, Finance, etc.). You are able to think globally and strategically and influence change across a complex, fast paced and demanding organization/environment. You have the willingness to dig deep into details yet remaining focused on big picture; you are motivated by continuous learning and growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and enhance processes and technical solutions to achieve clear understanding of complex contractual terms and deliverables negotiated by Technical Infrastructure teams.
  • Ensure contractual data integrity/accuracy (from contract signing through termination) in our spend management system, utilized in overall vendor governance, financial modeling and related business decisions for Tech Infrastructure.
  • Ensure adherence to contracted commercial terms and internal contract execution processes in collaboration with internal GICO groups (Audit, Vendor Management, & Reporting), as well as other stakeholders (Legal, Engineers, Technicians, Program Managers, Finance, etc.)
  • Serve, conceptualize, and sponsor initiatives with Legal, Engineers, Technicians, Project Managers, and Finance to drive process improvements around vendor governance, contract adherence and total costs optimization.

Minimum qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business; Masters preferred.
  • 6+ years of professional experience in commercial operations, vendor management and/or vendor negotiations, including 3+ years in contract management.
  • Familiarity with contract/expense management systems is a strong advantage
  • Experience with telecom, networking and/or data center operations contracts is a strong advantage
